The land may be taken by eminent domain. It will be a while. They want to put a fire station there.

The Town of Essex is exploring the possibility of purchasing the Village property as a future site for a new fire station. The decision to due so would ultimately be up to the residents of Essex at an annual Town Meeting. Regardless of the decision, this is a long term project and we are not going away any time soon.
